the WANT and the NEED

Sometimes (Most of the times; Every-time) we may get lured by worldly things in a way that we actually become a slave to the world and it things. The question arises is: Am I a slave to the things or they are to me? Or its just the nature to get lured by things, chase them and let them dominate over you?

Pretty much the same, right? There are needs are should be done without a second thought, and then there are wants. The mind is so unstable that it shuffles with a very slight distraction. Just shake it a bit, and my friend you are done!

Let’s talk about needs first. I am a working professional. I need a roof over my head, some food to keep my appetite, mode of commutation and a bit of social life, and yes.. some money obviously which I’ll be using to satisfy my needs.

Then there are wants, desires, lures, attractions and the Distract-ers, rather say Destruct-ers. Yes, I need food, but should I end up having it from a fine dining, somewhere I should check in, take selfies, flaunt about it by posting it on every social media that is there and yes, eat my lavish food with a tag on it which practically has no affect on anything but my budget

OR

shall I simply crash somewhere in the local market to arrange healthy food for me?
Big question, right? That obviously depends upon my pay scale (My market value).
By this, I do not want to target the fine dining and the lavish lifestyles, but the obvious that are add-on to these – check in, selfies, flaunting. Why can’t someone check in at a local place which is not too sophisticated and the least popular with the lures?

The truth is people do not want to target the dining, but their friends, neighbors, acquaintances just to flaunt that they can go there as well. Yes, their budget for the month is screwed, but they went. The grace of being superior (in thoughts, obviously).

Majority will end up targeting others. There is no problem in going to lavish places, but at times (every time), you should keep it to yourself. What would the other good by seeing you? He/She would do the same and the cycle will continue.

The question that must arise now should be why does my wants dominate my needs, though I know that Everything is Myth.

Let’s take another example. I need a car for the purpose of my commutation from my home to office. Now, there are two scenarios here:
1. I must board a cab whenever necessary. Less cost. No EMIs. No fueling issue. No service. No maintenance.

2. I must save enough money, buy a car. Pay my EMIs. Maintain it. Fuel it. Service it. Yes, bloody you have to drive it in Delhi and face the chaos everyday (P.S. I’m living in Delhi). After 5 years when my loans will be settled, so will my car! Now, another car, another race, another drag, another lure. Umm, a big car now. (Yes, my CTC will increase by that time.

Which option is the need? You know it better than me. Which option is the want? You know it better than me.What shall do? You know it better than me.What will do? You know it better than me.

Yet, there is greed for possessing things be it a car, house, person, qualities, desires and what not! That’s what people do. They never go beyond owning. The original idea is to let go. But that cannot happen while you will be you. You have to be that to see through it. You can capture the unlimited, but you being you will go through the limited to get the unlimited.
Nobody is to be blamed. The ultimate goal is to get there anyhow. You are already there. Better know it now than taking forever. Then things would be great. You can play with them rather they’re playing with you.

The ending question: Are you using the things or they are using You?
